Horn in progress

We Twisted the plywood into shape and stuck the smaller end into the round hole cut in the plywood. Then the portholes were cutout and trimmed. How do you like the shape of the horn so far? Photos of actual fog horns show a long slightly tapered horn, like a clarinet, so this horn is trying to mimic that shape as well as look loud, like Gabriels trumpet.
The next trick is the bellows assembly that is the engine that runs the whole structure. And then we have to support the horn up off the ground.......

Same Boat Horn in progress

Well, this here is the beginning of the Same Boat Horn, a large human powered fog horn to be displayed at this years Nocturne night time art festival. This horn when complete will sit on the boardwalk facing out over the ocean. Visitors can activate the horn by pushing a bellows system I am still working on. What you see is bendable plywood being slowly bent into a cone shape with a lite spray of water at night to let the wood cells reconfigure into the needed shape.

This horn is due in a month so stay tuned and watch it grow...
